HTML5 and CSS3 …What are they?
– A new and improved technology
Coming into an era of phone’s being more and more at the center of website design, HTML5 and css3 bring a new an improved experience for both users as well as website designers.
What is HTML5?
HTML5 is the is the latest version of HTML, so to explain HTML5, HTML itself needs some explaining.
HTML = Hyper Text Markup Language.
Aka. a set of rules that dictate how a website’s content will look.
Usually a rule is written with a starting tag for example, <body> and then an end tag </body> or something like that. What’s in between the tags is the rules of layout of the content of the site, written in text form.
Like any program/app etc. that has new and improved upgrades, HTML has many versions.
What makes HTML different from the version before (HTML4):
-NO plugins required for games or videos, aka. no flash etc.
– Websites that previously weren’t supported by phone now become also viewable on phone
-Work in c8llboration with other apps, is capable of displaying lmpressive 2D and 3D graphics
-Drag & Drop uploading possible
How does one get to use/upgrade to HTML5?
Since HTML5 is constantly still developing, there are no ”download html5” or such things, but instead the latest version come with updating your browsers.
A failure to keep up with the latest browsers with the more new HTML5 technologies may leave certain wesbites not to work properly. That’s why it’s important to remember to update your browsers every once in a while.
A more personal experience about HTML5:
There was a point when I didn’t own a properly functioning PC, and noticed the inconvience of that, especially when it came to visitng certain websites that required flash. I missed being able to casually go on a site and play a game as a short break to whatever. Then stumbled upon a HTML5 based websites which suddenly allowed, like magic, to play games even on a phone with no flash. The flash-based websites suddenly felt extremely outdated. Welcome to 2018.
CSS 3…. What is it?
Now that HTML5 is explained, the other term is in need of explanation.
CSS= Cascading Style Scheets
CSS3 is version 3.
CSS is similar to HTML in that it works as rules for a website,
CSS is more of the rules of the layout of tye entire website, not jut the content.
